this is what countries look like before a revolution. decentralization causes tensions within the country to rise until something big snaps

The Cosmopod ep where they talk about Yugoslavia emphasizes that a big part of their collapse was due to devolving a bunch of power to the individual republics only they did it in a really haphazard and careless way and, well, you know the result...

Somewhat confused as to why they would attempt this kind of discrimination with Jews. I figured they would have gone for any other minority, since Jews aren’t singled out and hated that much in popular culture, and antisemitism is generally considered bad.

I mean probably yeah. Meant more in the sense of the courts who allowed this, since it seems to go against the genera right wing ideals about the courts and justices.

You’re probably right. But while the right isn’t entirely united, they do tend to fall in line and make sure that a rogue element doesn’t blow the lid on a grander plan before everything is in place.

dont worry, the law targets the LGBT too. The "christian post" omits that part.

Represensation Win! The fascists hunting jews are now also hunting LGBT people.

The reason that the story is about jews is that the couple that sued them are jewish. The policy of the foster home is christians only.

Jews are pretty hated in the south, they're considered "Jesus killers" or something insane like that. The south is extremely racist btw so this could easily be any other minority

Why did I get born in a country where I am surrounded by orcs? What the hell did I do in a past life to deserve this punishment?

I'm Jewish, so on one hand, fleeing to Israel has crossed my mind, yet on another, I'll be damned if I even tacitly endorse ethnostates.

To say they’re orcs implies that they didn’t choose to be this despicable when they clearly made a conscious decision to play Calvinball with human lives on the line

We need to resurrect Lenin and Mao, have them do the super Saiyan fusion dance, and put them in charge of a 50 year scourge over this psychotic nation.

Meanwhile in Maine, they just made it illegal to withhold state funds from Christian schools because it limits their freedom to practice their religion...And somehow, both are used to discriminate against, among other things, LGBTQ rights :amerikkka:

Didn't they already do this in that Philly adoption service case from a few years ago? They refused to help gay couples adopt and SCOTUS said they could just go down the street so Philly had to keep funding them.

Should be real simple to resegregate since we started desegregating and just gave up halfway through

Yes technically the sign would read “Christians Only” rather than “No Jews.”

Where's the sign coming from? Not mentioned in the three articles on this, not even the one OP linked, nor in the court docs.

The court didn't rule "Juden Verboten signs are cool", they ruled favourably on the petition to dismiss the lawsuit. I'll look further into the state laws later, but the couple's appealing anyway, so there's going to be a follow up.

There was one passed in 2020 intended to target LGBT people, perhaps poor wording of the law allows agencies to extend that discrimination to jewish people. I took one look at the "LGBT rights in Tennesse" Wikipedia page and noped out for my sanity.
