      it's highly addictive and it's forced on us by lobbyists. whether we actually "like it" beyond being hopelessly addicted to it remains to be seen.

      Interestingly, the United States does not have much good land to grow sugar on. It's like Puerto Rico, Florida, and some sugar beets in Minnesota. Cuba was supposed to be our nice little imperial sugar farm but Fidel Chadro ended that plan. (Instead the USSR, who has the same problem, got lots of cheap sugar lol)

      What do have is corn. So much fucking land for growing corn. So we just process it into something that sort of tastes like sugar and use it instead, so we don't have to give another country leverage over our agriculture production.

      So basically, high fructose corn syrup is imperialist
