    It's more a problem with the infrastructure used to deliver the energy. It was developed for one kind of distribution of loads (which here refers to the stochastic and time-varying demands for electrical energy), which not only pulled less power on average, but also had lower peak loads. Pulling more power than the grid can handle results in smaller networks in the grid being without enough power to deliver.

      If only they were one of the biggest economies in the world... Maybe then they could improve infrastructure...

          yep. Just the beginning of the list of reasons that utilities should be owned by the state/municipality served by it.
