The thing about this thats so weird to me is that its supposed to be about instilling respect and discipline but as soon as kids get big enough to fight back they do.

Watch the white ribbon. Kids are not fully developed and that shit fucks them up. They never get resilient enough to fight back.
I guess stating it as what always happens is wrong but kids absolutely do fight back. Teenagers typically arent going to let someone beat them without resisting somehow.
