I do kinda think it's a matter of "when" it'll happen as opposed to "if".
How long? Maybe not for a while, decade plus, but I think it'll happen eventually.
Then we can finally get the Howard The Duck X Batman movie we've always wanted.

One day...maybe. A lot has to happen to get there though. My take: I think Warner Bros./DC would 100% be DTF right now, but Disney/Marvel probably wouldn't take their call even if they made it.
The MCU is basically an American institution at this point. Meanwhile people are writing articles every other day wondering if the DCEU even still exists at this point or whether or not Whedon or Snyder's justice league is canon (I vote neither personally, but that's another story). Even putting aside that DC would obviously get a huge share of whatever profits the movie made, what is the incentive for Marvel to associate their brand with DC? Why the hell would Marvel make, in effect, what would be the biggest commercial and marketing stunt for their competition and potentially lose market share as a result? What do you think they're democrats or something, lol.
All that being said: the one potential exception to the above is Batman. Marvel might be DTF with Batman in some capacity.
