Body language is obviously real but the interpretation of it requires a lot of contextual information too, holistic judgement.

e.g. someone with their arms folded across their chest is sometimes/maybe defensive. On the other hand, maybe they're cold.

It's an art not a science.

The most interesting part of this is how a bunch of these junk studies were funded by US defense industry to try to come up with excuses to do racism, as well as local police departments going all in on crank science and now we’re dealing with the downstream effects.
