    I find it darkly funny how this wouldn't fly for someone who'd want to keep their career in the US, a country which hasn't existed under an (openly) fascist dictatorship.

        On the other hand, it is perfectly acceptable in Germany to speak of "both of the German dictatorships", drawing a false equivalency between the DRR and literal Adolf fucking Hitler.

        Germany, at least, was under a fascist state with remnants in the west (and now unified). So it makes sense. The United States, on the other hand, never ripped off the mask completely and took a plunge into full fascism like Spain or Germany did.
