I don't see how condemning them for those votes is enough. AOC is getting worse and worse over time, continuing to entertain her as being a "socialist" is bad for socialists. This is just liberalism existing within the org.
the DSA fundamentally can't kick her from the org unless she does some kind of actual misconduct/breaks their bylaws. all attempts to make ideological consistency a part of those bylaws have been thwarted by the more right wing factions that see electeds holding membership as some kind of brand victory. the organization is rotted to the very core by liberalism and even passed a rule barring members from holding membership in another org that enforces democratic centralism. the structure of the org only punches left. it's why I left.
But they were only voting how the union bosses wanted them to vote.
But most of their statements align 100% with what this website (ML or otherwise) would say on what they cover. I didn't say they are bringing about the revolution. I said that it's not rare for them to post a W. I'm not a social democrat, and I don't care what you think about their electoral strategy. That's not what I'm saying.
They might have some socdem tendencies but they still put numbers on the boards for marginalized Americans and their interests are aligned with ours right up until we have a credible threat against the bourgeoisie state, which is later
I am surprised the NPC put this out. Usually they're all about covering "our elected"s' asses when they make bad votes.
If anyone here is a member they might consider signing onto the Seattle Petition. IMO it's not great but it does seem to be the only formal internal pressure at the moment.
They have no choice. If they couldn't denounce this, they might as well dissolve the org.
idk about that. A lot of members (including some of the current leadership) were defending votes for funding the Iron Dome on the grounds that the representatives were "from very Jewish districts". IMO that's even less excusable and it's antisemitic.
I realize this doesn't make my org look good. The people on the ground tend to be better, but the national "leadership" is typically awful.
Bowman is no longer an endorsed DSA rep anymore either though. I think the current NPC majority isnt great, but theres a lot of good comrades on the national leadership, I just hope next convention they get to be in the majority.
That's fair. It's a shame the left caucuses don't seem to have anything in the works for the summer. SM/GND and B&R are going to be out hard and the main opposition is going to be who? SALT?
Yeah I think BR has broken from the current majority which is basically just SMC/GND. But the split is 8/9, so it could be overcome since I do think a ton of members are mad with this current majority and their repeated fuck ups.
They kicked one of the Chicago DSA aldermen out of the org for supporting money for a new police academy, the fate of AOC, Bush and Bowman should be the same.
