Physical attraction is one thing, but acting on it is something completely else

Anyone who targets teenagers for relationships is seeking a completely unbalanced power dynamic that basically lets the older partner seriously fuck with the younger one

    It never turns out well

Thats even true for slightly older age brackets. I'm almost 40 and there are obviously 20 year olds I find attractive but the thought of being with one at this point is just fucking weird. The power dynamic is a bit different then with a literal teenager but I couldn't stand the maturity difference, I was a fucking dumb ass at 20 so were all of my friends.

At some point age stops matter so much, not really sure when it is though, probably early to mid thirties by then you've fully matured. Like at 33 being with a 40 year old might sound a little strange but there's no power dynamics at play as you're easily at the same life stage.

              (CW: Sexism, Self own)

When I was in my early/mid 20s and in shape as hell my buddies and I used to go a bar frequented by middle aged professional women to go "cougar hunting" the obvious goal being getting picked up by hot well off women in their late 30s-40s. But everyone knew exactly what was going on so I don't really think there was any issue as no long term relationships were involved power issues and maturity never had a chance to come into play.

I think that's more that casual sex and hookups don't really last long enough for power dynamics to, well, do much of anything.

We're not weird about sex. We're hypervigilant about hornyposting in response being :awooga: over fem bodies in nonsexual contexts because otherwise a forum turns into a misogynistic cesspool before you know it.

Volcel gets posted in plenty of other contexts but that's the origin and it's working great. This is one of the few places on the internet you can scroll through without feeling objectified.

I don't think it's an inappropriate relationship or anything, but being in my mid-30s, the idea of hitting on women in their mid-twenties would honestly just be embarrassing.

Only teenagers and pesos could make an argument otherwise.

Spoke to a handful of 10p coins, a penny, and an old Japanese yen coin I got from a family friend as a child. They agreed, although the yen coin had some pretty fucked up addendums.

The real challenge was keeping a straight face when the Crown said "ephebofelia" in the most overstated faux-Swedish accent imaginable. Never gonna be able to watch the Swedish chef again.

Funnily enough, this is exactly the kind of edgy, childish argument that I would expect from a 16-year-old. So maybe, in her experience, girls stop maturing emotionally and mentally at 16? Though, I have to give a chef's kiss to the phrase "perverted even the very simple idea of pedophilia". That one is going for some kind of award.

It honestly disgusts me to see Allen Ginsburg's poetry in every hipster bookstore. How many people have been canceled and their work made taboo over the last few years and NAMBLA man marches on

The age of consent should be raised to 40 and then you should still have to fill out a request in triplicate with the Volcel Police :volcel-judge:

Of course none of this applies to black children, who become dangerous “black males” who should be tried as adults the second they hit puberty.

I believe we call this "combat age males" in the Middle East.

I think it's like a mixture of confusing girls hitting puberty earlier on average, and a mixture of socialization and differences in how people handle hormonal changes which makes boys more erratic. Taking it at face value it's talking about brain development, and then it's just false, brains continue developing until our mid 20s across genders.

Part of me thinks it's hearing younger women get told "you're mature for your age" a lot, and assuming it's an observation rather than a generic thing some dudes tell women who are too young for them.

I think it also has to do with what teens of those genders feel and how they express it. Teen girls are pressured to look beautiful and act in opposite ways(punished for being modest and also for being promiscuous). This causes sorrow for never quite being "right" for society, and despair because this new state seems to only get worse moving forward. Women are also socialized not to act out, so only sadness can manifest. For teen boys, they're told to grow up and be a man but aren't actually allowed to do adult things yet, and slowly have to grind through the worst version of adult things(awful summer jobs instead of regular employment, beater cars or just walking, drinking cheap and bad alcohol.) Men are socialized to act out more, so negative feelings manifest as anger and defiance. This period of life seems interminable before the real thing starts, so it leads to lasjing out wishing to skip ahead.

Being quiet and resigned is taken as maturity compared to being belligerent and loud.

I’m pretty sure when I was a 16 year old boy I was on the exact same mental level as the girls in my class. I wasn’t hanging around the junior high school kids looking for a girlfriend
