There's a protest against Turkey and the NATO shit at Norra Bantorget next week, on the 21st, at 2pm.

Most Swedish media is critical of the Kristersson-government kowtowing to Erdogan. That they'd make statements such as this is unsurprising, but I am somewhat positively surprised that reactions overall are supportive of the protests.

Support for joining NATO was already fairly weak when the process started. The longer this drags on, the more chance that the application is withdrawn (even if I concede that it is very unlikely).

The anti-Russia sentiment is real. But there is also more scepticism of NATO with the various recent wars, a strange pride about neutrality (think some of it is cope about WW2) and also that Erdogan is a muslim which will bring in your average racist that is outraged that we're placating one of "them".

Also that Kurds are a fairly large minority in Sweden compared to Finland.

Sweden gave recources to the sandinistas and Olaf Palme was the most left-wing sociel-democrat who's ever been in power. The Meidner plan they wanted to implement during his premiership, whould've eliminated private ownership of the means of production. So I think it's more than just some strange "cope about WW2", and a reflection of a broadly shared, left cultural dominance.

an effigy of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was hung upside down from a lamppost in Stockholm

    lmao they did a :no-fash:

During a press conference alongside Italian Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, Cavusoglu said the demonstration was "racist" and a "hate crime."

Yeah, genocide them for decades, invade a neighboring country to murder them and then call them racist when they complain about that persecution being extended to fucking Sweden. What a dog turd of a human being.
