hoeing really is a good time! the ground was absolutely choked with vines and rocks and such so it took forever but i finally got it mostly cleared, leveled, and mixed with certified dirt owl-free poops. i have no idea what i'm doing, even at this early stage, but i am v excited
now to stare at it for the next few months until it does something
May i suggest solarization then no till/min till after that.
The solarization will kill off the millions of weed seeds you are going to get
:quagsire-pog: sun magic
i'm reading a bit about it now! i never knew this was a thing people did.
You should try to find where you can buy local wildflower mixes. It'll help pollinators, look nice, and be more likely to survive conditions of your planting zone and soil
that's a good idea for sure. rn i'm mainly focused on growing foodstuffs but i think i would like to do stuff like that in the future as well
Nice! I couldn't tell if you didn't know what to plant. Strawberries did well for me and were fun to grow and maintain
i mean i don't really know anything at all (:blob-no-thoughts: ) so all input is appreciated, but i acquired some seeds from the store and figured i'd just grow what seemed convenient to cook with, so peppers and onions and carrots and such. fresh strawberries sound marvelous~
Get some herbs. They love bad soil and neglect. Rosemary and lavender especially love sandy soil.
oh damn i didn't know that either, i have some rosemary too actually but lavender would be delightful to have around the house. i definitely will, thank you <3
better than average, but it's been rather dry outside some heavy rainfall the other day.
in general it's been a dry year or two, i wanna say. don't quote me on it though.
