A very surreal, mysterious anime in which the characters are based around various gems and minerals.

This anime is primarily 3D-rendered, but it really stood out to me because the studio did not compromise on animation smoothness (e.g. FPS) to achieve their beautiful renders, and my god did they do an excellent job with the art and animation.

IMO one of the most amazing-looking and deeply captivating anime out there. It's hard to talk about it more because the extent of the surreal setting. I believe it is included on the amazon prime streaming application, if you are affiliated with that service.

They live in a commune most definitely built upon fully communist beliefs.

This show is art though, pure art. There are so many messages, allegories, visualisations of mental illness played out in abstract, hidden messages, depth of research. You can spend years analysing this show and come back to it on your 10th rewatch and still come out with some new thoughts.

I could write for hours about it but doing so would painfully deprive people that haven't seen it of the enjoyment of the experience itself. It is absolutely one of the very best anime to come about in the last twenty years.

HnK is a total contrast to the unoriginality of beaten-to-death genres like isekai; brilliant new ideas are out there:

    • the CG is used to full effect and has some really amazing camera work at times that otherwise wouldn't be possible
    • Phos is adorbz: [https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/726/044/cea.gif] and a top scholar
    • setting is totally out there and a breath of fresh air
    • challenges normal categories of gender, and their small society has some commie characteristics
    • slender gem bodies :eyes:

Of fuck I love that show. The manga goes some wild places, I'd love to see them get more seasons. Unfortunately that doesn't seem very likely. Really good use of 3d as well, which is nice because weebs tend to shit on 3d a lot.

Hehe this is the big question right now. I really, really hope so.

I read an article last weekend that claimed we should know whether it is going to continue or not by the end of the year (supposedly). They claim the anime is so popular that the studio would face backlash if they didn’t continue it.

I’m not so sure that’s a healthy relationship, but I would hate to see the show fade away...
