So fitting with all these stories of people shooting each other’s families over road rage or paranoid boomers killing people who cough on their lawn. The show is literally about two complete strangers who had no purpose in life until they met each other and now they can only think about spreading misery. On the last episode and I've only been watching it for like 2 days

If I had to choose 3 pieces of media to show a foreigner what American culture truly is, I would show him Falling Down, Borat 1, and Beef.

I love how near the end of the first episode, it becomes apparent that they could both solve each others' issues because what they both need seems to be exactly what the other is able to provide, but the guy looks past this because all he can think about is revenge. I thought that was clever because the show doesn't treat you like an idiot and doesn't say it out loud

Hatred of neighbors and randos used to be more common when we interacted more.

Now everyone siloes off after work or works from home, but back in the day folks hung around each other all the time whether they wanted to or not.

Interpersonal violence was much higher before the advent of stuff like radio, tv, etc. Cheap entertainment is a good thing.

So, what, like the 19th century?

I think it was probably the poverty in the 19th century causing the stress and violence not too much socialising

Update: finished the final episode. Honestly, the show would've been 10/10 had the last episode didn't drag on for long. The ending was beautiful, but the scene right before that was lame as shit. I wish they ended up in the hospital in a different way
