Account of an abuser circumventing any accountability in the community with help with a cover-up from the Chicago Branch. The abuser has transferred to the Atlanta Branch as of August 2021 and is still a member of PSL in good standing with the party to date.

It's this guy and 3 friends probably. All of them need to be purged and PSL needs to us this to organize more people in that area, if the person who has been abused is still a member, they should be allowed to help dictate response and organize the local in response to this type of abuse. Especially because if PSL is dealing with this, it means a lot of people in Carbondale are dealing with this.

There's no reason to "protect" members of a party if they're found to be abusive and it's the duty of a local to use any instance of abuse like this within their ranks to grow and find new avenues of membership by demolishing any possibility of this happening again.

Reminder that people on this site are part of this :funny-clown-hammer: party :data-laughing:

I would personally quit the party instantly if it was constantly covering up or obfuscsting and burying the straight up evil shit it does like this that leaks onto social media and I was a member

Every chapter has an issue like this. Our local DSA had a similar scandal (people here know about it), and what's important is the response. Our local purged everyone involved and moved on, even though that person was in leadership. The local SRA did a similar purge because of overlap in membership.

Don't discredit an entire org just because locals still have issues, it's important to look at responses as well. Most of the time the majority of a chapter is unaware of what's actually going on and not actively covering for that person. Or sometimes the stories end up being one sided until a tell all like this.

Something you can do if you're involved in locals is to occasionally audit leadership by checking previous relations or contacts and asking about these things. People like this should never be in charge, but frequently they manage to end up in charge because of undeserved confidence. It's our duty to find and purge them.
