Dozens of trucks and cars involved. Cause was a dust storm that reduced visibility to zero. Topsoil from local farms blowing across the highway. I-55 closed for cleanup until tomorrow. Injured range from 2 to 80 years old.

I was planning on reading grapes of wrath at some point, but tbh now I can get the same experience from the news so why bother

I’d pull off or slow way down

Unfortunately one of the scary parts is knowing that other people aren't slowing down even when they should lol.

You ever see those videos of like 50 car pile-ups during a snowstorm? It's just constant zoom>crash>zoom>crash each new car going way too fast for the visibility so they wouldn't even be able to brake in time even if it wasn't slippery.

Drove in a blizzard with no salt or special tires. If I stopped I'd be stuck in the middle of nowhere for a day or two. I was so relieved when I got to my friends house which was close by but I barely got there

A truck slid and flipped off the road in front of me, asked the guy if he needed help but he said he'd just walk

Yeah I just kept my car inching up a hill. Kept the wheel straight and stayed slow. Dudes were going so fast through it and flipping their cars cause they think four wheel drive makes them god

Yeah, people don't get that four wheel drive just makes it easier to start and get traction (which is nice tbh) but it does jack-all for handling at speed. I think the best car I've ever driven in the snow was a Rabbit, because it's tires were so thin that it was like ice staking.

    Corporate fucking murder.

The article says it was the momentum of the trucks. If they had slowed down and told dispatch there was a wind storm, their bosses would tell them to go fuck themselves. That's why they kept going 60 or whatever with 50 feet of visibility.
