Economics aside, a crisis of overproduction from a broader perspective is a tragedy of capitalism. "Poverty in the midst of plenty" definitely describes whatever stage of spectacle we are at now.

The ability to capture the motions of life is such an amazing thing humanity has achieved. But a lot of it now is people going through the motions of producing a commodity for profit, and people going through the motions of consuming it because "culture" told them they need to keep up with the trends.
