The thing about Hank Hill is that while he may seem like an entrenched regressive, he comes around to tolerance at the end of the day.
He's not a progressive, mind you, and I doubt he'd ever come to the left. What he is is a best-case conservative, the one you can talk away from the darker aspects because ultimately he just wants to grill.
