Marxist feminism is one of the major branches of intersectional (modern) feminism. Anyone who understands intersectionality can be convinced that class is a worthwhile axis of oppression to consider. (And on the flip side, anyone who thinks intersectionality doesn't apply to the class struggle can fuck off into a dumpster.)

Intersectionality is the biggest ongoing struggle session I have with this community and the people who dismiss also seem to be the people who have never studied it.

Yeah. I'm thinking of doing a feminism for babies effortpost.

There seem to be a lot of people who think every theoretical framework that's not derived from Marx is inherently reactionary. Like a bunch of religious dorks.

Please do. I know you would do a fantastic write up. I was researching feminism in the USSR a couple of weeks ago. Found a lot of great information.

            Aww thanks.

I will. The one thing I'm hesitant about is that people here seem to want a list of books to read for more information, and I got everything I know from talking to people, so I don't really have a bibliography to hand out.

Nah. You’ll be good. If you need some resources I went to college and read some stuff, but I trust you.

Intersectionality makes me sus. “Only black trans women can understand transmisogynoir” is true but doesn’t encourage coalition building of the type I’ve seen in College (children of Chinese immigrants and gay children both feeling outcast in Australia and building friendship alliances)

Intersectionality is the idea that a black trans woman faces different oppression than the sum of a woman, a black person, and a trans person. It's generally understood that the best person to ask about this oppression is a black trans woman. It's not the idea that only a black trans woman can fight a black trans woman's oppression, though I too have seen people try to do that sort of gatekeepy nonsense. Asking people to explain the struggles they face and understand each separately is actually a powerful tool for building coalitions.
