Sure looks like the same 10 users attacking the site over and over and over again though.

I've seen the logs and I've been on a lot since the launch day. It's very obvious that it's the same 10 or so people that have been repeatedly making the same accounts over and over again to attack the site. You know this and anyone that has been here the last 5 days in new or looking into the modlog also knows it. Claiming otherwise just demonstrates to me and everyone else reading how exceptionally bad faith a lot of the things you're saying are.

I agree that the fuck zara post looks bad, but in the context of it being the general community's reaction to the attacking that was ongoing I think it makes sense why it was made and so heavily upvoted. Zara in particular wasn't the sole person responsible for that, but was the recognisable name given to the general community's response to the group-attack.

I saw Zara in a dozen different discords trying to tell people all kinds of nonsense. Over on one of the ML discords they were claiming that the whole site was anti-ML which was met with resoundingly sceptical response. They were just going around anyone and everyone they could telling whatever narrative they could in a desire to cause harm to the site. It was obvious, and everyone reacted to it with extreme scepticism.

People are continuing to react to this with extreme scepticism (as I am) because people don't see it as a separated thing from all those attacks. It feels very much like a continuation of it but with a different approach.

Do you have something you actually want? Anything that's actually actionable for the admins? Or is the intention to just continue making posts complaining but at a less spammy pace so that they don't get removed?

I'm completely against mod elections until the site is well in excess of 100k users, probably more. It just invites any big fish out there to come in and destroy everything.

I don't see how names in the modlog would change much? Surely the issue is not who performs an action but what? That seems more like something that would be used by people aiming to create a narrative around 1 single person they want to attack that would take inordinate amounts of time/effort to debunk by showing off how it relates to other moderators.

I don't care about the discord. I didn't use it and I don't see why anyone cares about it. It's a terrible platform that creates drama because it focuses communities around whoever the most-online are, and the most-online crosses over quite unfortunately with people who are more likely to have a variety of mental health problems. I'm saying this with experience, I run a discord with 4k users for 4 years and it's a nightmare how the same drama happens over and over again. It's not because of people, it is the platform itself that causes the same shit over and over in every large community.

I know fully about them. Zara made sure we all knew fully about them lmao

What I don't understand is the actionable stuff you mentioned above. It's not very meaningful.

Ok, seriously, that's enough. regardless of how you feel about it they have the right to air their grievances without being demonized for it.

The problem is you don’t use the discord so explaining issues with the current discord and mod shenanigans can’t really help since you don’t have the context of the system

Doesn't this lend weight to the fact discord is a shit platform?

If you can't explain the problem to anyone that doesn't have direct involvement within the discord then discord is a seriously shit platform and there is something emotional and closely linked to the platform involved in these drama outbursts that always occur on discord itself.

There is a specific problem with the platform that inflates and creates these issues.

"You wouldn't understand unless you were there" makes it impossible to have any conversation about the issue.

So stop using discord and use lemmy? Discord sucks. Why are we talking about the discord on lemmy?

I can't speak for the other mods but I mod c/anime and I can tell you for sure that I went through 2 interviews, visits to all the communities I run, multiple questionnaires and had to show I have a boatload of experience before I got the comm. I don't know about the others though of course and I have no powers outside of my comm, but with my anecdotal experience I have to say that vetting is absolutely there.
