I'm a big horror fan and I like anthologies though they can be very hit-and-miss
never seen a single V/H/S movie because the reviews for them are fairly mid, but are there any genuinely good segments that make these worth watching?
damn there's like 7 of these things now
There's a section in one of the movies (don't remember which one) where a bunch of neo-Nazis get owned by a monster
It spends a huge amount of time showing their massive arsenal and them doing military-style training but the moment shit hits the fan they fall apart
Which VHS is this? I binged all of them on acid and molly and don't want to watch 7 movies just to see Nazis get fucked up for ten minutes
Did a bit of Googling and it turns out it's V/H/S/94. The section in question is called "Terror," and it's toward the end.
lol reminds me of the chapter in This Book is Full of Spiders where all the zombie prepper guys face actual zombies and get owned immediately
Ugh I saw one of these on I think it was tubi or something when my mom got the channel for free with her new tv, awful movies. I can't remember which one it was but it was these arsonist kids that break into a dead man's home and find the found footage. Lots of quasi-SA scenes, needless nudity for the sake of BOOBIES, dumb schlock horror but not in a fun campy slasher or splatterhouse kind of way just bad.
I'm like 90% sure that's the first one or second. It's really not a good series tbh
I liked a couple segments from the first one but haven’t seen the rest. And as @SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net mentioned there is some gross sa stuff
I'm guessing you're not asking about which movie to watch on your VCR?
The first one is probably the best, but there are fun segments in all the first three that can be worth the misses if you're used to anthology horror in general.
Every one after the third is questionably funded cash grab nonsense that ranges from mid2010s YouTube tier garbage to "someone saw abcs of death and thought they could do better and they hit exactly in the middle like you know that one where the wife is trying to kill her husband but keeps failing and the twist is it's the end of the world anyway and its like yeah its funny and campy while delivering on the gore aspect but you just kinda feel meh at the end."
If yr on drugs and cuddling a qt they're all great. (This is not a high bar to pass, but is my experience with it tbh)
hmm so maybe I should wait until I have a goth gf to watch them with
though I might be waiting forever
the only one i saw was vhs 85 and it was pretty bad
the first like 15-ish minutes of the first segment was somewhat okay horror, but other than that the only part i really enjoyed was the finalish segment of the movie where it crossed into so bad and ridiculous it's good territory, where
spoiler
the cheesiest looking hot topic 90's goth teen ever put to film shat out magical future serial killing vision dream VHS tapes that he used to watch the future and dramatically shoot the serial killer villain set to hilariously avant-garde industrial music bangers. it also made me realize how anal you have to be about historical found footage, i was instantly taken out of the premise when this whole thing supposedly taking place in a small town police station in 1985 was filmed with like three static film-quality HD widescreen cameras: the other directors in this anthology at least tried to make their footage look shitty and did theirs in 4:3 format
i then looked up the movie online to see other peeps reactions to it, and saw that generally it was considered one of the better/middle of the pack ones, and then instantly had no desire to check out the rest of them at all lmao
