I agree with the majority of the points except the last. We’ve had like 10 presidents die while in office, and within minutes they have the VP sworn in.
We also had a bunch of near-unanimous supreme court appointment votes in the past.
I agree with this.
We're still at least 5 years away from the full collapse. Keep in mind that historically, other countries who suffered collapses took a long time to get there. Yugoslavia had an entire decade before their collapse and the civil war. Right now, the US looks like the early 80s for them when they suffered a massive economical collapse and you had various ethnicities retreat into mythology about how great they used to be.
It's 100% that there is no non-accelerate path here between Biden and Trump. I 100% expect Biden to put the pedal to the medal and accelerate us straight to fascism. Look at Kamala Harris. She is basically the Dems version of Bill Barr and Dick Cheney. She'll lay the groundwork for our future authoritarian fascist dictatorship. They will push some fucked up bipartisanship law to try and squash the protests, whether it's making filming of police officers illegal or pushing for life sentences to those arrests, it will be something in the same vein of the PATRIOT Act (which Biden helped write btw) and the NDAA bill that Obama passed.
Libs talk so much about how they hate populism and just want it to go away and we all go back to worshiping the status quo. That is not going to happen. People so seldom forget that we had a populist movement before Trump came to the forefront. The Tea Party came around before him and the GOP embraced them. The Democratic party has proven time and time again, they'd rather move to the right than ever embrace a populist left movement. Bernie Sanders truly was the compromise candidate and they went with the most right wing Democrat they had as a way to give us the middle finger.
Biden is going to inherit the worst economic conditions since the great depression - highest unemployment, worst economy since then and still in a recession on top of that. He isn't going to do jack fucking shit about any of this. The whole reason Trump rose to the forefront 5 years ago is cause people are sick of the status quo. Give them a politician like Biden and restoration of the status quo, you can 100% expect a massive backlash and it will be far more reactionary and fascistic than anything Trump could've ever done.
It's going to come down to Biden and Harris fucking around with the recession and not doing anything to help with unemployment. That's going to be the big thing that pushes us towards fascism when there comes a movement as a result. Richard Spencer endorsed Biden cause even that evil mother fucker sees it's an easier path to their goals. Biden and Harris are going to fuck around while people are starving and a major housing crisis kicks in, and the results won't be pretty.
Spencer said that Trump has been a burden to their movement more than anything and that he believes liberals would help them more so than Trump has.
He's not wrong. The Dems are running on a fucking 'Law and Order' campaign with Mr. 1994 Crime Bill and Kamala Harris who is the most authoritarian politician they had in the primaries. Before the George Floyd riots, Biden's campaign wanted Klobachar. They made no mistake at all telling us they were running a Law and Order campaign straight out of the 1990s. Biden and Harris are going to lay the groundwork for the future fascist dictator that comes out of the GOP, much in the same vein that Obama passed the NDAA and Trump started using it on protesters in Kenosha and Portland.
The alt right really were not prepared for the spotlight when Trump won back in 2016. They would've been better off with Clinton winning and then having 4 more years to sit back and build their base and propaganda around another useless neo-liberal president. They got a great head start towards the end of the Obama era and they really were an evolutionary result of what began with the Tea Party during Obama's first term.
Biden is no doubt going to accelerate us directly to fascism. I posted this thread last week with my own predictions - https://hexbear.net/post/34180
The biggest thing is going to be how Biden and Harris handle the recession and unemployment. I give it 2 years max that they sit there and fuck around doing nothing and it's going to lead to the next reactionary right wing movement popping up and they'll start making gains right away like the Tea Party did.
if Biden wins, the 2022 midterms will be a fucking bloodbath. the GOP might even get a 2/3rds house majority
Absolutely. It will be a bloodbath indeed.
Liberalism is dying and slowly being overthrown. The GOP have proven that they are more than willing to replace it with fascism and will embrace it. Dems are acting confused about it.
All they have to offer anymore is empty platitudes and identity politics. We're fast approaching the point where those things don't work anymore, and it don't help in their case that Joe Biden don't even pay lip service to popular ideas. The most they did for identity politics was choose a black woman for VP who was the most authoritarian figure in the entire primary field and couldn't even win in her own state.
would that mean they have basically everything except the office of president?
what with them having the supreme court alreadyI guess it depends on how big dem gains are in 2020, really hard to say. I think it hinges on who wins the senate
They would need to win how many seats to win that? 100?
Well, yeah, brunch is only available to the bourgeoisie. Proles aren't invited to brunch.
This is what was so frustrating about the Chomsky interview, this is so obviously the most likely of events regardless of what difference you want to think Biden will make in comparison to Trump. There's fleetingly few possible futures where things aren't significantly worse.
I was surprised that Chomsky holds the position that capitalism can’t be overthrown within 20 years, but also the planets collapse is locked in by ten years.
By that logic, he must think we’re truly fucked.
Maybe that's why he didn't want to engage at all. Better to be positive and give some hope than be black pilled by him admitting that you're voting for a 1% chance things turn out fine under Biden versus a 0.1% chance things are good under Trump.
lol holy shit, it almost entirely overlapped with his second term. blatant in hindsight now that you point it out
Biden’s not one to have remotely effective pull with anyone under the age of 50 and he will collapse in approval within months if he wins. Like a lead ballon.
I think either Vice President could step in pretty quickly. Also dying of old age is much easier to handle than assassination
