hunter hunter is a fun watch but i would not say it is for kids like there is this meta element to it that it starts exactly like a normal shonen but it slowly starts to unravel and showing how absolutelly fucked this world it is like it kinda takes you into this kinda sense of security, Jojo and Yu yu hakusho are great manga
but like if i were to suggest some actual mature manga like Seinen Berserk is still fascinating and just great art, there is pluto which is a robot-noir and astro boy is in there kinda with a anti war message and from same author BILLY THE BAT ,THE GREATEST CONSPIRACY MANGA EVER MADE which has my favorite panel of any manga jesus fucking destroying those merchant property
billy the bat is real good i remember starting to read it because i had just finished pluto and then being blown away that it was even better than pluto and also, like, i still can take some shonen like one piece and it is because it is weird like it doesn't do the shonen thing in the way you expect like for example there is an tournament arc but it is done like 600 chapters in and there is a plot reason for luffy, he has a reason to be in that tournment like reward is something he cares about in personal way and the rest of the crew does not so they are doing other things and this creates a situation where the crew if they have to fight are like separate and can't rely on luffy because he is busy and that makes things more unpredictable (also i have been reading for years so oda has already gotten me on his terrible trap)
