But a good run down on the Hunter Biden story, only 1% I had heard before listening to this, if true, I suppose.

What's people's opinions on the host? They seem trustworthy and on the up and up, but like I said, its so surreal.

    never gave em money but I took them & their graywolf feed off my podcatcher after they jumped on this hunter biden thing

    some of their takes are good but you gotta vet everything they say--they've platformed bullshit as absolute fact in the past, and I got burned for uncritically parroting it

      Yes they do veer into conspiracy crankery sometimes, which was most egregiously on display when they talked about 9/11 Truth shit with an unironic controlled demolition guy.

          Honestly Matt as usual has made an excellent point about conspiracy theories like 9/11 Truth in his recent vlogs.

          Ultimately it doesn't matter whether 9/11 was an inside job or not because conspiracy theory, as an inherently reactionary way of looking at events and politics, eventually runs up against a wall: "So you're one of the elect who has connected the dots and discovered The Awful Truth. Now what?"

          What actual difference does it make, in any material sense, if it came out tomorrow that Bush literally did 9/11? Nothing. What are you going to do about that is the only question that matters, and conspiracy theory doesn't answer it. And if you need to some Awful Truth to motivate you to taking meaningful political action that will fundamentally shift society, then you're not going to do anything about that after learning that Awful Truth anyways. The retreat into conspiracy theory is the effect of learned helplessness and an inability to meaningfully affect society around you. The only way to change this attitude is to engage in Marxist analysis and communist organizing, and if you're at that point you're not going to be worrying about conspiracy theory anyways.

        oh don't get me wrong I have 0 reason to disbelieve anything about hunter, it's just got the same 'hypocrite gotcha' energy as when folks were talking about regeneron using stem cells like that was some trump self-own

        it just absolutely boggles my mind that Liz was whining about 'twitter censorship' in 100% alignment with koch-funded ghouls about this particular news story and absolutely fucking crickets about the way that same censorship gun was pointed at blueleaks/DDoSecrets, an actually leftist project
