Lots of ppl in the “stay with .ee/hook up with shit” thread said everything is fedi drama. They’re not wrong.

There’s a new kind of posting in the air and it’s suffused everything. It must be given space to grow without interfering with the other posts.

If we had a lemmydrama and/or a lemmydunks comm and quarantined that stuff there it would allow for avoidance of fediverse stuff and give space for lemmy drama and dunking culture to develop.

Thedunktank is for non-fediverse shit. Twitter, Facebook, etc. it should stay how it is.

It wouldn’t stop the problem of federation stealing our posting energy but it’s a start to help people who don’t want to see the new hotness lib of the week.

Pic unrelated.

I think this is a really good idea. Lemmy drama stuff is actually kinda important to keep tabs on at some level. Tracking and IDing alts and patterns of bad behavior are useful, and having that in a specific comm outside of the dunk tank makes a lot of sense.

I think it would actually help reorient the tank back into the fun agitprop against liberal ideology that it has generally been. Dealing with federated libs is like a whole different beast, and so we should have some clear separation of the two.

e: should we call it fedposting? might be a silly inside joke, but maybe too confusing for the non bears?

Dunk content for politically socialist stuff should stay in dunk tank.

There is scope for a new community though. An analog community to /r/subredditdrama, something like c/lemmyversedrama. There's an added benefit in putting this on hexbear too and its that it'll be one of the communities that's quite useful in staying up to speed with what drama is happening in the wider lemmyverse. This is the kind of space that instance owners and power users tend to find useful, which in turn creates a strong incentive for maintaining the federated connection with Hexbear on the basis of it being home to that community.

It also prevents its weaponisation, which I won't go into detail about because of the lurking eyes and ears.
