It should be over soon. Please let it be over soon.

Chairman Daou is planning a revolution. Biden is ahead enough to get 270 if the remain vote isn't for Trump he'll increase his margin by small amounts. But where did that bring you? :back-to-me:

If election day's got you in an emergency, you can find hotlines here

The 🇱🇷 2020 🇱🇷 American 🇱🇷 Presidential 🇱🇷 Elections 🇱🇷 are the single most important political event since The Last Fascist was VOTED 🔫 OUT 🔫. We on the admin team see it as our duty to enforce the views of our audience by any parasocial means necessary.

As a nacho-socialist cabal, we see no path to revolution other than by focusing the majority of our leisure time on consuming bougie media. Media that is obsessed with the details of an election we decided our preferences on months ago, if not years ago. Here's the bottom line: Voting makes you a good person and not voting makes you a bad one. Don't believe us? Just ask Lenin:

A democratic republic is the best possible political shell for capitalism, and, therefore, once capital has gained possession of this very best shell (through the Palchinskys, Chernovs, Tseretelis and Co.), it establishes its power so securely, so firmly, that no change of persons, institutions or parties in the bourgeois-democratic republic can shake it.

We must also note that Engels is most explicit in calling universal suffrage as well an instrument of bourgeois rule. Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you. Universal suffrage, he says, obviously taking account of the long experience of German Social-Democracy, is "the gauge of the maturity of the working class. It cannot and never will be anything more in the present-day state."

See? We can't let capital take control of this "very best shell"! Turtles belong to the people! And the way we do that is by voting for posts.

I swear to god I'm going to turn my currently most lib friend into a marxist if it fucking kills me. He used to be a ron paul guy and mostly turned himself into a Pod Save listening lib, and a few months ago he ranted to me about how he listened to an episode of Chapo and thought it was everything wrong with politics because it was an episode where they started off by riffing about how online bullying works (under the circumstances probably a relatively unlucky bit of rng) and he hated that. Over the last few months we've been talking every day about politics and tonight I got him to explicitly recognize his position as part of an exploited working class and talked to him about false consciousness and materialism and I'm going to fucking win I promise you. I fuckin' swear on me mum.

Good work. I would try to drive home that Pod Save fails to give answers beyond "vote" and the hosts are constantly surprised by events and struggle to explain them. Nothing comes from the causes they endorse. Like the Russia thing amounted to nothing. Chapo called that would happen from the start.

I'm not arguing with you, but that was NOT the message he was primed to hear at that time!

It's tough because Trump being president and the election really has broken him, he's talked about his struggles with anxiety throughout his life and he's had to go on meds due to politics and his chud family recently. I'm not trying to make things harder and I sincerely think understanding the world from a leftist perspective is psychically easier than trying to bumble your way through all capitalism's contradictions. He keeps saying things like "I've been inching toward your POV here on everything gradually" but feels like he needs a break with a to him non-objectionable president, which ... I think he deserves a break but also I think just like a lot of libs there's a risk that they all just go to sleep and quit caring if the stress of Trump is removed. Not all libs have me around though 😈

Yeah to be clear I didn't suggest (and wouldn't suggest) Chapo, and I haven't told him I listen to it either. He was coming at it from a perspective of here's this hugely popular cultural thing he wanted to understand, and unfortunately came away with the conclusion that yeah these people and the people who like them are the problem with the world. He's watched HBomb's video on climate denial and liked it and constantly does the "fucking aquaman" bit.

Maybe you could get him into a podcast that is still leftist but less dirtbag? Like Srsly Wrong, maybe their library socialism series. They consistently come at leftism from an angle of compassion which sounds more like what your friend needs. I'm in the same place as you basically with radicalizing my best friend, and that's one thing that she enjoyed because it's more accessible than podcasts which assume you already have leftist views.

Expose the libs/Dems as controlled opposition angle. The Dems can’t even get us healthcare/M4A, and it will never happen. They are paid to lose (and they are all bought and face IRL social pressure, which cannot be discounted). This isn’t to say there aren’t true ideological believers - there are plenty - but they are capital’s useful idiots.
