I know that this is lib shit, but if Donald Trump had won my brain would’ve been pudding in another four years. The culture war around him is exhausting

Absolutely. I think 'post-Trump' actually makes sense as a cultural marker it consumed us so much.

I fucking despise Biden and hope he dies painfully for being a literal war criminal and an architect of the world that allowed Trump to get elected. But while I'm not happy that Biden won I'm extremely happy that Trump lost, and I don't think it's "lib" to think that way.

I don't think it's lib to think that way at all. Think we're all happy Trump lost. I just can't match libs enthusiasm and I don't think they realize that this will probably end up hurting them in the next two (at least) election cycles.

Oh for sure. I saw a vid on twitter of people in NYC literally screaming from their balconies about how happy they are that Biden won and I just don't feel the same way. I'm not happy. I'm not much of anything. More so just relieved that while we can't stop the path we're on at least we won't be throttling on it at warp speed while also having to deal with an endlessly exhausting culture war waged by the president himself.

It will be interesting to see what happens during the first year of Biden's term. My guess is all those people screaming from balconies will almost completely disengage with politics like they did during Obama's presidency.

Yeeeessss they will. They never gave a shit, I've maintained this from the start. I think the reason we're seeing the flip from red to blue in metropolitan suburban areas (at least from my experience) is because these people are realizing that they can maintain their supremacy in a white-dominated system by aligning with dem party politics under the guise of being "progressive" and can claim that they're morally superior without giving up grilling or driving BMWs or having to face the ostracization that comes with supporting GOP policy.

This celebration is the celebration of not having to give up their comfortable lifestyles. Hence the "brunch crowd" meme. This will be Obama 2.0, albeit I guess that was Biden's entire platform lol.

The pandemic was a big part of it too, plus Trump just inspired so many people to hate him enough to actually vote.

But you're absolutely right. I'm pretty bought-in on the idea that the GOP is becoming the "workers" party and the dems are the party of coastal elites. Of course I mean that demographically--the GOP does not actually give a fuck about the working class.

That's definitely true in a shorter term sense I think, this is the highest voter turnout I've seen in my lifetime. Either way it's astounding that the pseudo-populist rhetoric that the GOP has now embodied like, actually works... The country is literally split down the middle. While it's true that Biden was elected he won by a fucking hair.

It won’t go away, it’ll just decrease for a bit. If Trump had won again it would probably have increased
