I'm listening to the debate with Chomsky on Bad Faith and he points to Biden's platform as evidence he's gone to the left, and I found myself wondering to what extent, historically speaking, that platform/program has meant anything.
Chomsky sounds incredibly naive here, as soon as Bernie was out, the entire Lib apparatus swung into action to court republicans and distance themselves from all things lefty. Does Noam think the oceans won’t rise under Joe “no I won’t stop fracking” Biden because his website pays some lip service to the environment? He should understand, especially in this advanced stage of neoliberalism, that both parties are now committed to the worst case scenario by their commitment to capitalism, they just spin that fact differently.
