I watched the whole show and I'm in the midst of reading Midnight Rising right now, which covers the same period of Brown's life. The general shape of things are still there, but at times it really feels like the show goes out of its way to downplay reasons to take Brown's crew seriously as historical figures. I still highly recommend it, because the world is seriously lacking John Brown fans and it's got great meme potential the left should be utilizing, but it shouldn't be given any weight as a historical piece.
Having said all that, as I get deeper into Midnight Rising and the events of Harper's Ferry, the more unhappy I am with Good Lord Bird. They seem to have changed a lot of important stuff around.
