Was watching a show in Spanish a woman visits her husband in the hospital, asks "How do you feel". The audio was "como te sientes", which I'd expect, but the subtitles said "como te encuentras". I've never heard encontrar used this way before, is it valid or just a mistranslation?

"Cómo te encuentras" is correct as well!

It's used to refer to how someone is feeling health-wise, whereas "cómo te sientes" is much more general.

"¿Cómo te encuentras?" is more common imo. While it's usually used when talking about health, it can also be used when talking about feelings (ex. someone has been crying, and now they look like they are a feeling bit better, you can ask them "¿Cómo te encuentras?")
