Yesterday was intense for everyone. Some quick updates as of last night:

  • A large amount of the sitemod team has stepped away from the project. Other comrades from the community have volunteered to pitch in and been modded.
  • Some core devs also stepped away from the project. For the time being, you should not expect any further development of new features or bug fixes as we reassess our capacity.
  • Main has been locked. No immediate plans to unlock.
  • Registration is closed and will remain so for the time being.

We 100% understand and support everyone who left yesterday and are also looking forward to the next stage of Hexbear.

We're probably not going to be making any additional announcements or formal communication until after the weekend at the earliest. Thanks.

Maybe the site should be refocused toward influencing the external world, ie gaming various social media algorithms toward socialist content. It's easier to coexist with people you are 90% as opposed to 100% in agreement with when you're collaborating on a project. Plus if r*ddit became a toxic leftwing site, they lose ad revenue and die so it's win/win.

Whatever, I'm pretty frustrated with the status quo too so if it doesn't change I'll stop participating. And if it shuts down, I'll stop participating too.

Yup. We're going to be shaking things up. There's lots of good opportunities to get this dialed out. It's challenging because there is always things to adjust and improve on. Huge sweeping changes constantly is disorienting for everyone involved. When you hit an inflection point, however, you need to take stock and refocus.

the site should be "refocused" on being good. "gaming various social media algorithms toward socialist content" sounds like a fucking job, make this place a fun or captivating place for socialists to hang out and then we can talk about using that community to do things.
