How did you deal with it?

You need to go to the dentist or you could potentially die.

If you cannot afford dental care, there may be some dental schools or community hospitals in your area that will do emergency dental surgery for free. Once it’s rotten, it’s almost a guarantee that is has to be pulled.

When I was broke and had no insurance or no way to pay I got my tooth pulled via one of these places

Sepsis is no joke, comrade. It will destroy your liver and kidneys on it's path of killing you. Blood poisoning from sepsis is why they used to (and still do, when forced to in extreme circumstances) amputate infected limbs.

Very low, antibiotics will take care of it. On the other hand rotten tooth is no joke and needs to be taken care of immediately.

But isn't sepsis what the rotting tooth would result in? why would the rotten tooth be worse than the gum abscess?

Getting sepsis from an abcessed gum is low probability. If you're asking if abcess could make it worse when you have rotten teeth, i have no idea

You stop buying something you usually buy (cheese, good bread, brand name smokes, etc) to save money to go to the dentist as soon as possible. My partner had one and it absolutely was hell on earth to them. It absolutely has to be removed or dealt with. They might want to implant something in its place but honestly just lie and tell them you'll discuss that once the rotten tooth is out and pretend you're gonna agree: only pay to get the tooth out then consider further work, don't let them pressure you into getting a crown or some shit before they fixed you.

You'll have to go to the dentist and have them pull it out, sadly (or get a root canal if you can afford it).

It might get infected otherwise and fuck you up badly. Please, please, please find a way to see a dentist.

Find a local college with a dental school they have sliding scale pay structures. You can get decent dental work for way cheaper than normal but with the understanding that the person working on you is a dentist in training but it's a safe highly monitored setting.

I know someone who pulled out his tooth and got a massive infection in his LEG which hospitalized him for weeks, and could have killed had things gone differently. It’s not be fucked around with.

If you can't find a local dental school or something, I've used one of these Discount Dental Plans to get a couple teeth removed. At the time the plan cost a hundred bucks but it saved me about $200. YMMV. The dentists who take part in this plans aren't usually the greatest though, not the sort you would use if you could afford actual insurance. Their reviews online are typically pretty bad but if you're just looking to get a tooth removed they'll do the job.
