Brits saw France and their vowels and thought "we should do that too"
It's amazing how many French words have redundant vowels. It's like they thought they might lose one and need a backup.
Don't think that just because you posted this at 3AM BST that I wouldn't see this post and get very upset by your hatred of our clearly superior spellings for words.
If you want a good shibboleth ask someone to spell this word:
- Colorized (USA)
- Colourised (Ireland & UK)
- Colourized (Australia, Canada, NZ)
The English language was a mistake.
