This seems like a really good time to test out some CRISPR adjustments.. I mean if it’s going to die out anyway, may as well tinker with it now and see if they can reintroduce sexual gene transfer. Let it breed itself into robustness once more. Probably change the taste but that’s the price.

Yep, basically their strategy is intimidation by being rich when the people deving these things aren’t. The legal costs are nothing for them and decimating for their opponents.

Shameful practice, but super common in the modern world.

I don’t have boy parts so this may be different, but I’ve shaved my legs and pits/bits for like a real long time now, and while I’ve cut myself shaving my legs an absolute ton, I’ve never once cut my pits or bits.

I am absolutely not more careful, I just stopped using a blade on my legs and got an electric. Shaving is a pain and I hate doing it, so I’m not careful. But I do have men’s face razors for my shaving needs because they are better for the contours.

I’m convinced only large patches of flat or slightly curved skin -or with edges, like chins or behind the knees- are really vulnerable to the shallow angle you need to get a good slice. You just don’t get that with the short strokes needed for pits and bits. That’s probably also why barbers back in the straight edge days did lots of tiny strokes.

Captain Jack Harkness (doctor who, multiple seasons starting with season 2-3 or so of the 2008 reboot) is the media embodiment of this hypothesis.

They spell out very clearly that the time he comes from, they don’t have hang ups over gender and sex, they just do whatever’s good. I’ve always, since learning the fact, told people that the average temp in the state I live in is 40f, for the whole year, which is 8 stupid degrees above freezing.. that’s about the same as the Siberian tundra.

But growing up I often heard “sure it’s cold but we could live in the Siberian tundra” and now I’m like ok..? And? We do basically?

I think whether or not freelancers count as self employed depends heavily on what they are doing and where.

For example where I am, I have taken contracts that are w-2 (employee), because they require me to work set hours for the project, but they wanted me to work them as 1099 (self-employed), because that’s what I have done and it works better for them, and “it’s a contract, you are self-employed!”. But the law is pretty clear about what counts as self employed, and not all freelance falls under that.

You could probably do what the lap cat people do and just stuff a glove and shirt sleeve as a decoy. (They stuff a pair of pants, I’ve done that and it works well until they wise up so use sparingly!)

As long as it’s in the right place, it’ll probably work. For a bit. Might need a decoy mouse attached to it - have any old dead ones?

Unless what the cat wants is those slight movements and the “aww cmon” instant attention it gives :)

But are you (general you, not op specifically) really trying to tell me that not once in their entire historical span of time on earth.. not one single time did anything evolve from a horseshoe crab?

Clearly I’m not saying the whole species changed, but that is separate from an offshoot population evolving into something different. Which surely must have happened, no?

Maybe, but something tells me they weren’t just recording cherry blossom dates. I just have a super hard time believing they didn’t record a bunch of stuff throughout the year, cherry blossom date being but one of them.

Imagine having to go through and data entry all those dates manually from old record books or scrolls or whatever.

Incidentally this is also the reason I don’t date anymore..

I’m with you but it depends on the bagel and that’s probably the problem.

Many people only really have experience with like frozen/mass produced bagels, which are not good dry. Good toasted with cream cheese or butter, but not dry (speaking from intensely lazy experience).

But if you get one of the good ones that’s baked with cheese and is just soaked with delicious? Made by a good bakery? No question I’ll eat that dry. It doesn’t need extra if you make it right.

Potato bars are so rare here (also Midwest). They happen, but super uncommon.

Probably less uncommon than the rest of the US, tho.. since the food all comes from here 😅

Add some shredded cheese or whatever, some fresh chives (grow 90% of the year here), some bacon, and some water or oil for mouthfeel (based on calorie needs) and you’ve got a whole meal.

Potatoes are cheap and so filling. Passing on them as a meal is a mistake.

That sounds like a good place to start, thanks! I’ll get in touch with them and see what happens. I know a place indirectly through a friend who just moved on (who thus knows a lot of people still there) which is ripe for unionizing, due to disrespect of the existing workforce. So I have a start point in mind.
