  • Rainbow 6: Siege. In the last 2 days I got berated and called slurs for not playing how one of my teammates wanted me to in two separate matches, played against 2 different people using obvious aimbots/wallhacks, and got dunked on by people who had pixel-perfect knowledge of a map that I never get to play on because everyone bans it.

I still love the game to death but I really cannot stand some of the community. The recent commendation system has helped more positive people be more vocal in the game thankfully.

I really enjoyed Bastion and have been meaning to get around to Transistor which has been sitting in my library for years now. Is Hades much better than Transistor or Bastion?

My dad is a proud capitalist and even he calls Monopoly “the game of slow death” and dislikes playing it with my family because it doesn’t include everyone as the game starts to end lol

I read the title and got halfway through the first lil paragraph and the word “Portal” immediately popped into my head lol.

Otherwise, I think Titanfall 2 has the perfect FPS campaign. Just like Portal, it’s fun, replayable, fat free, and every level is exciting and finds a way to surprise you. The story is far from original but it’s told so well because of the fact that it’s an interactive video game and the two main characters are supposed to be the player and a robot so their relationship is defined essentially like the player’s relationship to the game. It’s not as approachable as Portal since the controls have more depth and complexity, but that’s why I said it’s the perfect FPS campaign.

  • Maybe I’m not old enough to have been part of the discussions about Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan movies, but one of my all-time favorites which I’ve never heard spoken except by my aunt who showed it to me is Joe vs the Volcano.

It’s very heavy-handed in its symbolism and story-telling, but damn is it effective.

Man working dead-end job in a no-window office building with shitty fluorescent light bulbs gets told by a doctor on a billionaire’s payroll that he’s going to die because of a fake disease. Said billionaire suddenly shows up and offers to pay “dying” man in a few weeks of luxury the likes of which “dying” man has never seen in exchange for convincing a small relatively uncontacted tribe on a remote island to allow billionaire to mine for computer manufacturing resources on their island. All along the way, “dying” man meets different versions of the same woman whose joyfulness is inversely proportional to how tied to the Things of Man she is.

    It’s fuckin great.

Oh, yeah, and that movie Disney would prefer to pretend they never funded: A Bug’s Life.

It absolutely sucks but voting locally is a way you can improve your ability to vote. Incremental improvements towards leftist policies at the local level will sway more people to leftist policies, resulting in greater support overall towards the left.

  • I understand being angry about the state of American politics but I don’t understand why you’re venting your anger at me. I’ve been continuing this conversation because I legitimately would like to understand your point of view and potentially be persuaded.

  • I didn’t say anything about the effectiveness of the communal support structures you mentioned. I think spending time putting effort into that is extremely valuable and important.

You said that if you didn’t waste time voting you’d have more time to put your efforts into communal support structures so I challenged you on that and you didn’t respond to that challenge.

So again I ask: do you put your time into developing or reinforcing communal support structures for other people?

I do not but I consider that a failure on my own part. I’ve been looking for ways I can help my community which won’t burn me out quickly on top of my dreary job.

Okay, are you using your time to set up communal support structures for people? Or are you just using the amount of time you save by not voting (which is generally 5 minutes saved for every 12 months lived) to do that?

Also, voting for Biden is like getting punched in the face. Voting for Trump is like getting punched in the face and having your right to vote for anything (face punches or any possible alternative) revoked. Not voting for either is like saying “eh, they’re both just the same to me”

  • You were faulting Biden’s election for the abolition of abortion and the removal of trans rights when I’m pretty sure those are both indirect results of Trump being elected. Trump gave conservatives a majority hold in the supreme court which overturned Roe v. Wade, and the emboldening and legitimizing of radical right-wing politicians led to the increased removal of trans rights.

What did you expect Biden to do to stop either of those things? I’m not defending the atrocities Biden has done and supports, but fault him for the correct things, not things that Trump caused.
