It's honestly sad that they end up that way. Just fuckin' be yourself; you don't have to squeeze your square peg into---okay, abandoning that analogy but like just stop reinforcing the shitty societal norms that are clearly affecting you as well!
In a literal sense, too, considering how part of growing through adolescence is figuring out your identity, which often involves going thru phases of different identities and outwardly signaling one's chosen identity to see how others react.
