  • I can't say I've ever lived in a white, American neighborhood, but pedestrians around me have a very risky attitude when interacting with traffic crossings etc. There are of course really good reasons why people here may need to cross the street ASAP. I have no idea how that compares to the burbs etc., but would hazard to guess that overall quality of life, stress levels etc. has a lot to do with it.

  • I'm not a vegan or even a vegetarian, but I don't eat much meat even though I do enjoy it. I am really fascinated by the hyper-aggressive defense that comes from many people, when you gently suggest that eating lots of meat is bad for the environment. Or, even discussing the terrible conditions of factory farming. You can witness this daily on reddit. What is so essential to their being, that a critique of eating meat is seen as a direct attack upon them? What is the psychology behind this response?

  • Non-American here. I was aware of the bad parts wrt to Cuba, Philippines and being quite the explicit imperialist. But, didn't he create the National Parks as a preserve so he could keep hunting Bison beyond extinction? Just surprised to see somebody would rank him highly on the based-scale, since as an outsider, he seems really fucking bad.
