I'm against proactively putting people on the spot by asking, it forces you to either misgender yourself or out yourself, not very fun in either case. Also personally I prefer the they/them hotfix as a default norm is easier than expecting people to avoid pronouns altogether (but yeah either works)

Also (and this is me coming out as a liberal and a asoiaf fangirl) I think tywin is a good comparison for Putin bc for both of them, their fans hype them up as stone cold strategists- but a lot of the time they act out of revenge/vindictiveness and/or fear of losing face, to their own detriment.
neither of those are unique accomplishments of communism tho. And afaict in the things that specifically make communism better than the alternative (radical democracy, elimination of class inequality/class divisions in general), China is not doing exceptionally well.

Donbass as it existed pre 2022 was very much a Russian creation. There were many deaths under suspicious circumstances of pro independence/pro worker (and willing to criticize Russia) figures in the breakaway republics. People like mozgovoy, dremov etc. they were of course replaced by (more) reactionary people that were more loyal to russia. "officially" they were all killed by Ukrainian operatives but the locals themselves don't believe that.
The uprising may have had popular roots but it was very quickly coopted and brought under control.

The conflict of Yeltsin vs congress/the supreme soviet (1993) happened years after the attempted military coup that caused the collapse of the Union (1991). Yeltsin and the supreme Soviet were on the same side of the barricades back in 1991.
