Last year I was bothered by the randomness of fonts even in single words and sentences, and started that font guide thing. Immediately afterwards I tried to plan a nicer looking frame for it that can fit more, and have it for this event if anyone wants that or cares.

I also want to get anyone's opinions on changing letters to be better if you have ideas, because I'm sure I'm not the best at this but I want it to be appealing enough to use.

The main 2 things I tried to focus on is readability, and making sure each symbol can fit in 5x3 pixels.

It happens to be an instance federated with several idealogy-heavy instances, while itself being a general use instance with simple account creation procedures.

It makes it a popular choice for people who want to make multiple accounts for trolling, as well as people who have unpopular (as far as lemmy goes) ideologies. You can hopefully understand the kind of friction that could create and the reputation is the outcome.

You probably could have figured this out yourself if you just... Looked around. You shouldn't expect people who are in disagreement with you to explain everything.

I mean if you want to know how it would effect me it wouldn't. Posts from beehaw don't even come up, flooded out by more active communities, unless I go directly to the beehaw comms. I functionally use it as a seperate website anyways now, if I ever feel like checking it.

I don't really understand your overall goal talk tho. You want to be nice in an intentionally vague way, but you feel like federation is somehow limiting you from achieving this vague state of niceness... Is it just moderation difficulties (not to downplay them) or is something else about leaving the fediverse door open problematic to being nice?

To be blunt the solution to your problems seems to me the same as every single other time beehaw federation is talked about: the community you want to achieve will require many more moderators than a typical community of equivalent size, they will need specialized mod tools, they will need to be high quality skilled highly vetted mods, and you will need exponentially more of them the more users appear on beehaw. Federation doesn't directly stop you from doing any of that, but it does lead to faster growth, which leads to too much work if you aren't constantly adding moderators to match growth.

You should be asking yourself how big you want beehaw to be, and how big of a beehaw you think can be achieved at all.

Now I feel weird because the discussions here are great, in depth, and nuanced, but the way I feel about this is kinda boring and uncomplicated? Am I missing something?

If I'm playing a customized character that I made, I prefer characters to be playersexual, allowing custom relationships to match my custom character.

If I'm playing as a written character and experiencing a set story, it is better for all characters to be written well, and have realistic sexualities, as part of the story presented.

As far as representation goes, I think both can have problems, but neither are inextricably problematic.

Cats will do this for all sort of reasons. Some are bad, like neurological damage, but they sometimes will also do it if stressed or really bored. Chill.

I don't feel like I have any real say in this discussion but I wanna throw out that the stuff that gets shared in the news mega (also?) being their own posts would be very nice as a person who browses from another instance. If all that stuff showed up in my subscribed feed, instead of me having to browse huge comment sections, I would be thrilled.

It seems there are a lot of common misconceptions about how stuff works on lemmy. I regularly see people not understanding what community or instance they are posting on. It wouldn't suprise me if this person didn't have any idea who they were reporting content to.

Btw even if it wasn't intentional this is the funniest thing I've seen today, "damn building instincts" had me in tears.
