  • You'll want them closed in winter. Is there a moisture barrier? Look into a crawl space dehumidifier If you have a moisture problem. The vents open won't help. It'll just make your floors cold and increase the likelihood of frozen pipes.

    Edit* Keep em closed if the crawlspace is encapsulated, regardless of time of year.

    2nd Edit* I'm teling you this as a person with a fixation on the science of indoor air quality, HVAC ducting, and crawl spaces. Yes, I'm on the spectrum.

    3rd Edit* You may need to consider having a crawl space sump pump installed, if you are close to sea level.
