  • Do you mind if I go into detail? I hope that's okay.

    Path of Exile is a game that's lasted a bit too long. It's got a lot of bloat by now because they've only ever added systems, not subtracted. So, a lot of things have piled onto each other, power has crept, and nothing has ever been done about anything. There used to be three acts you did twice, now there are ten very long acts you need to do per character. Most people will take 8-10 hours and speedrunners take 3-4 hours. This is per character, in a game about having lots of alts and different builds.

    There's a million issues but the current issue is that right now they want to do a 30-40% damage nerf to each build. The issue is, this is a game where mobs tend to one-shot you. The meta in path of exile is to kill things before they kill you. Path of Exile is a game about going very, very fast. It's the most fast-paced ARPG. So, making everyone do a LOT less damage does the following:

    -Makes the tedious act system that nobody likes take even longer

    -Makes leveling more of a chore

    -Massively hurts everyone but the people who are high-end players who will wreck shit despite the nerfs

    -Doing a lot less damage while mobs can still one-shot you means you're going to die a LOT more often

    Then they haven't touched the loot system. Path of Exile is focused on grinding currency and then buying loot, with even decent loot having an ABSURDLY low drop chance. They also want to make flasks, the potions you drink to regain health and other things trigger automatically, but the triggers are RNG and changed via a dropped item currency.
