  • Zerush@lemmy.mltoPrivacy@lemmy.mlWhy don’t you like Apple?

    • Worst relation price - performance, you pay design not features
    • Apple is own by Apple, never by the user
    • Not share-friendly with other phones or systems; you are locked within the Apple world, you can't even download a simple mp3 without installing first the iTunes app.
    • Almost not repairable
    • It's the closest of all closed source, hermetic against all out of the Apple ecosystem.
    • Not more private than other

  • Not with the crrent ones, it's easier to difference ads by code than by content in most Vids, eg, divulgations, news, influencers, etc. YT, to not destroy the own business modell, also avoiding that there later also 5 years old vids with outdated ads, must use some kind of dynamic insertion, that means, it can be discovered and skipped by some userscripts, for sure not in the extension stores, but in Greasyfork or OpenuserJS, which are independent from Google influence.

  • Flameshot is a really nice screenshot tool, but the big drawback is, that it only upload to Imgur, one of the worst Data hogs. The best and most complete is ShareX, there you can set the destinations to your like, but it has also a big drawback, it's Windows only (depends on NETframework, same as Greenshot)

*removed externally hosted image* ➡️ *removed externally hosted image*

You can use Flameshot, but recomment to store the screenshots only locally and upload to share/host later to, eg vgy.me, or some self hosted one, like FileCoffee (valid for all type of files, image, video, multimedia, documents, presentations, etc.)

  • I use also Murena Mail, apart of Proton https://murena.io

    Tech Radar review

Murena’s key goal is to stop companies collecting unnecessary data from your phone and online footprints, which it says accounts for up to 12Mb every single day. Transparency is clearly important when browsing Murena’s website, which states that all of its servers are based in Europe including its Finnish email and cloud servers, resulting in full GDPR compliance.

Nextcloud, which sets the foundation for many of Murena’s services, is end-to-end encrypted, while a statement on Murena’s website reads:

“We don’t scan your data, we don’t log your app usage, we don’t sell your data, we don’t use ads in our online services.”

    Negative points for some

    • Only 1 GB Cloud for free (maybe enough if you only use the mail)
    • Somewhat more expensive than others with the Premium plan

  • Yeah, wait for it. Even in China they are not cappable to control all the privacy tricks and measures for messages by the users. Where there is a law, there is also a trick to go around it, I doubt very much that they manage to control more than the usual chat apps, the effort would be economically unaffordable to do it also in decentralized or even on self-hosted private networks.

toScience Memes@mander.xyzCan I still use this salt?

Well, I understand that with some years in an plastic bowl, the salt may absorb some substances and microplastics. But about Honey, what comes in glass jars? There they also put an expiration date, even though still edible honey has been found in several thousand years old Egyptian tombs.
