It's funny because I thought about this an hour ago and the way I would put it is "mainstream economics manipulates statistics to fit a preconceived worldview and theory." Which a lot of "statistics" related study is guilty of these days. But yeah, I think that's my problem with calling Nate Silver a statistician. He's a statistician who works backwards from a narrative.

Eh. I'm 100% not calling Putin a Nazi and i think the "putler" name is the single dumbest thing on the planet, but he's also far right enough that pretty much anyone on here would call him "fash" in any other context, and he had no problem hiring the Nazis to go fuck with Ukraine.

·1 year agoTheir only success of any note is how they managed to be cheap bastards, change the game of baseball and win nothing all in one year. Attendance has been dismal forever. Of course, the owners wanted a handout. Even the "reverse boycott" was saying "we would show up if you didn't suck so much."
I'm sure there will be some sad people and it kinda sucks for Oakland to lose all their sports but this isn't like the Supersonics going away.
His degree is in economics anyway, which is kiiinda close enough to statistics? But I'm sure everyone will understand what I'm getting at here.
I knew him as a poker player (who called himself Nate "tha" Great) way before he was a household name so him being a smarmy douchebag was really no great shock.
