Gone was the 1930s understanding that government was needed to protect the people from corporate power. Gone was the idea that in hard times government should put people to work. Gone was the idea that Wall Street needed strict regulations.
This is the job of government, and while we do need to restore this sentiment somehow…good luck, considering everyone’s retirement nest eggs - if they’re lucky enough to even have one - are tied up in target retirement date index funds. They have us by the balls, and have complete regulatory capture.
The author later posits that labor unions are our last best hope. In lieu of the bought and paid for Congress actually doing their jobs and regulating, I agree, but some industries are insanely slow to come around to this idea (I’m looking at you tech sector.)
Pretty much. “Not trump” is such an incredibly low bar, it shouldn’t even be a consideration. Yet this is Biden’s core campaign strategy, again. He’s shown he’d rather beat and incarcerate peaceful dissenters than engage with them in good faith compromise. This is reflected by the rabid Blue MAGA supporters who start frothing at the mouth about how you’re a Trump voter just because you point out factual observations concerning Biden. It’s a wild form of cognitive dissonance, but I guess this is what you get after 50 years of unrelenting propaganda.
the issue: exterminating a whole race of indigenous people, auctioning off their land before the job is even done. irony completely lost on the perpetrators.
She’s balls deep in “defense” equities and they’re making a killing right now raking in us tax dollars to ship arms to Israel. Then they get more taxpayer dollars to “replenish domestic stockpiles.” So yeah, there ya go.
On that note, wish we could stop rubber stamping the defense omnibus bills until the pentagon can successfully complete a financial audit.
