  • I've been trying to put my thoughts to words and I think you phrase it pretty well.

In a sense, it's not all that different from non-sex work doing something you enjoy and find passion in. At least under the lens of capitalism, what I see as the main problem is needing to use that to live, whether it's sex or not. Of course the stakes are different and more intimate, but exploitation is fundamental to either situation.

It's hard to expand to a more general view as certainly not every sex worker is doing it solely because they want to, and I think the individual's privilege plays a big role. So again, at the heart of it is the capitalist definition of "work", and not necessarily the sexual component, in my mind. I may be way off base, though.

I have no connection to sex work other than human empathy, so my thoughts are mostly academic. I am always reconsidering my views on everything, so anyone please poke holes in my reasoning!

I went from Arch to NixOS and I've been loving it. I also had all the time on the world to dive in with several machines to fall back to.

There are a lot of layers to wade through especially when you need a specific tool like your UE5 case. As others are saying, there are ways to make everything work, nix or non-nix, it's just more to work through after getting the bases covered.

Anecdotally, I had little trouble getting set up on my MSI laptop with an RTX2070, Primus and all. That was after learning the ropes on a Ryzen IdeaPad.

Rambling aside, I would definitely make sure to start in a non-mission-critical way, but do jump right in if you're comfortable. Maybe if you can stomach the Asus a bit longer, or get the Framework set up and play around with the Asus. And ask plenty of questions! I know I'm not alone in jumping in on nix questions any way I can :)

I definitely second this. From what I've read, graphene's sandboxed google services work a little more seamlessly compared to microg.

Edit: you might want to be careful with secondhand, though, regarding locked bootloaders. An unlocked bootloader is necessary and is NOT the same as "carrier unlocked"
