  • To a degree, yes, but don't expect magic. Some laptops have a waterproof membrane under the keyboard, so if you're lucky, and it does, you may be able to just pop the keys off and dry the membrane out, and make sure no liquid creeps round the side into the electronics.

Otherwise you may have better odds if you open up the case and mop up any/all loose liquid you can get to with a microfibre cloth, as soon as possible, then try and let it air dry for a while.

A sealed bag with dried rice and your electronic object may absorb a bit of leftover moisture, but only to the extent that it will equal the moisture level in the sealed bag - the dried rice will gain a little extra moisture, the object will lose that bit of extra moisture.

Try to resist the urge to turn it on to check if it's working until you've got all the moisture out.

  • This won't apply to everywhere, but near me (in the UK), the council removed some of our bus lanes and cycle lanes last year, to appease some angry car babies, and possibly Rishi "We're a nation of car drivers" Sunak.

It's now difficult to safely cycle to the city centre.

At commuter times, the bus can now take 45 minutes for a 40 minute on-foot journey. Used to be 10 - 15.

The buses also get stuck in traffic at various earlier points in their route, so may be 10 - 30 minutes late or cancelled. This was already a problem, because the bus company is appalling, but it's got worse since some of the bus lanes are gone. Very little chance of using this to get to work on time, or to get to the train station if you're working out of town.

I'm not surprised bus and cycle usage is down. I walk instead, but I imagine many others can't afford the extra hour of travel time every day and are now driving again.
    :(

  • I had a small toy dinosaur, which was god. I don't think the toy itself was god, but more likely it was a model/toy of god, who was a full-sized dinosaur.

Retrospectively, my best guess on the reasoning for this thought process was that one adult had told us that dinosaurs were really, really old, before there were any people, then a different adult had told us that god was really old and he created the people - and therefore I came to the conclusion that if god was really old and created people, he must have been there before people, and if everything before people was dinosaurs, god must be a dinosaur.

I picked my most "noble looking" dinosaur and decided "this one is god".

  • Looking at some of these... I'd never even considered sectioning them by genre - mine's mostly by physical location - if I want to play that game, where's it already installed?

    So there's :
Desktop, Laptop, Deck Internal, Deck SD1 (and SD2, 3 & 4 for removable SD cards)

Then like most people, I've got a "Complete" and a "Maybe [person's name]" for ones the missus might enjoy.

The only sort of grouping is "Wheel Games", which is basically driving games, but the type you want to play with wheel & pedals, not just a controller. My wheel and pedals aren't set up permanently, so when they are set up, I pretty much only play all the Euro Truck/Bus Sims, Dirt Rally, F1, Revhead, BeamNG sort of games etc.

    1. Hitman series as an X-Com or Jagged Alliance style turn based strategy. I think that's pretty easy to imagine and self explanatory.

    2. FIFA or Pro Evo as an ascii turn based tactical roguelike. I don't mean running through dungeons etc, I mean still playing football, just that it's controlled on a grid, with you controlling a single @, and the other players moving when you move a tile etc, keyboard shortcuts for pass/lob/shoot/skill manoeuvres etc.

    3. Rugby League Live series in the style of Sensible World of Soccer. Pretty self explanatory. Rugby pretty much missed the "fast paced arcade action, 3 minute match" era of computer games, and they just churn out these slow, buggy Fifa-likes each year.

The closest I'm aware of currently are "Phantom Doctrine" (as a spy Xcom) and "Football Tactics & Glory" (as a turn based football game).

  • I don't think we're at the stage to be handing out numbers here, but I think you could improve your score with the following:

    • You're using two colours of cheese - this is great - but why no picture or pattern? A simple quartering of yellow and orange squares would help - or if you're feeling adventurous, a little house, heart, pacman, face of Christ etc.
    • The cheese is only partially melted. If you have access to a grill, you might want to leave it under a bit, until it begins to bubble.
    • There's not enough of it. You know why toasters have two slots in them? You should always eat toast in sets of two.
    • This may be controversial, depending on where you live, but to my mind the brown lumpy stuff ruins the purity of the cheese on toast. With the exception of butter, which is a structural glue, and can be considered part of the toast, "cheese on toast" should be both the title of the meal, and the list of ingredients.
