i'm the canvas guy (!canvas@toast.ooo)
Mastodon - @grant@grants.cafe
@user
works on all fediverse platforms, but !community
does not
i was proposing for this to be a possible solution to make it work across all existing platforms w/o requiring all the other platforms to support lemmy's system
but if you search a community up on another fedi platform, it won't always pick the community or the user (if they have the same name)
as far as the other platforms know, there's one actor but points to two different accounts
afaik the webfinger spec doesn't allow for multiple actors having the same identifier, like how lemmy does it (here's what gets returned when a username matches a community and user)
how I was thinking about it the instance owners would pick the subdomain the communities would be placed on, everything would still route through the main host but external interactions (like following a community) would be routed through the subdomain
eg for blahaj.zone's lemmy instance it could be setup as users sending in @lemmy.blahaj.zone
and communities ending in @group.lemmy.blahaj.zone
or something like that
not every community would have it's own subdomain, no
community actors would just have the hostname part be a different domain eg
users:
@UserA@toast.ooo
@UserB@toast.ooo
communities:
@CommunityA@group.toast.ooo
@CommunityB@group.toast.ooo
How does instance uptime decide when to show in-app? toast.ooo is listed on lemmy-status.org but doesn’t show up when using Mlem
*removed externally hosted image*
there's a good bit of uploads that are there now
very cool
i also want to style it to look like the in-game one as a nice finishing touch
hackliberty.org still links to it, although it returns a service unavailable, so it looks unmaintained
Also the most recent forum post is about how covid is a hoax
https://forum.hackliberty.org/t/operation-coronavirus/103
Having a name for a version would be nice for each major release (1.0.0 would have a name but 1.x.x wouldn’t, but 2.0.0 would, etc)
Like 10 minutes ago the project was nuked by the owner
i've also posted something similar on Mastodon that also includes an explanation of what canvas is
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for, sometimes I get a couple people together to binge watch a bunch of movies by X actor and we rank all the movies they were in
I’m watching two specific issues on this repo that would be very helpful for that use case
this is exactly what I was envisioning, basically just better in-app video support & livestream support
i failed to explain that in the original post, but having vertical videos take up the whole vertical space of a phone would be nice (ofc w/ a setting to turn that off for people who don't enjoy those things)
maybe a feature within mlem to suggest communities that are aimed at those type of content (maybe via a #tag
within the community description?) to increase discovery?
Edit: updated the OP w/ more details
If you're interested in doing beta tests join the Matrix space or the Discord server (they will be bridged eventually)
If you’re worried about notifying the sender that you are a real person, it’s probably not great interacting with the links at all because they are linked directly to your email (same with normal unsubscribe links)
It’s recommended you keep the default port because as soon as your IP is known it takes less than 5 minutes to scan every port for an ssh port
They also support payment in Monero so you don’t even need your crypto chain
canvas size: i do agree the last canvas was too big with not enough people, honestly didn't think twice about how big i actually set it to. i might do what @CameronDev@programming.dev is suggesting, with it dynamically growing size
event time: i am not entirely sure atm, completely depends on when i think most people would be able to and my availability
announcing: i have plans to announce it a month in advance 🎉 then slowly ramping up announcements as it gets closer
other things we have a matrix chat and i'm working on getting a discord setup w/ bridging to the matrix space when i get the time to
it'll be 500x500 (from 1000x1000 last year)
