  • I think there are a certain amount of users that are paid shill or trolls. One person full time can be many accounts doing a lot of bad faith voting and comments. So it's not expensive to make a flood pushing some narrative.

Bad mental health that can make people act the same unpaid.

I don't have a solution. We know what tech companies do, use it as an excuse to collect more user data to claim user verification. Doesn't seam to help much.

Least here, there isn't recommendation algorithms driving people down crazy holes.

  • Yes, protests should be quiet and out the way and cause no inconveniencing.....

In others, bend over, take it and be quiet. You get to vote, so shut up.

There is so much we wouldn't have without protest. Including the vote, won by the Chartism. Then of course votes for women won by the Suffragettes. Nation parks: https://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/learning-about/news/70-years-of-the-peak-district-national-park/the-mass-trespass

And things we might have we didn't want, like the Poll Tax.

In just the UK there is loads: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_protests_in_the_United_Kingdom

  • By the time I was 13, I'd watched loads of 18s. Aliens, Predator, Terminator and more. My parents didn't really believe in rating. I honestly don't think it harmed me. My teachers probably worried about me bring this stuff into school, but unless that traumatized other kids, it's fine. Maybe it desensitized me?

For my own kids, I judge it by the kid and movie, not the rating. If it's a movie I don't know, I'm read about it and rating is one of the things I'll look at. I will a read more if it is an 18. My 14y and 9y are pretty resistant, but my 12y is sensitive like my spouse.

  • They can't claim not to be a news channel, yet call themselves literally "news".

They can't claim to be the only unbiased news and have Tory MPs interviewing other Tory MPs.

The Foxification of news needs to be thrown on the ground and stamped on. They literally want UK news to be cesspit that US news is. But anyone not too far down the crazy hole can see that is a terrible state of affairs. US News is like a warning of what happens when you deregulate news.

  • Guake. Has been for years. I am in and out the terminal all the time, so F12 works well for me. Plus I used to play Quake and used the in game terminal to do all kinds of things. Plus I'm an old RISC OS kid and F12 was the key to get the "star line".
