The mention of cost has me curious. Are by-elections costly for (I'm guessing) the electoral commission to run?

I imagine the main costs involved are party funds for campaigning, but they probably see it as a proxy for the main event, so hardly money wasted. Even if it were, its not public money.

I do wonder if this being an election year has an effect? Maybe there's a trend if you go back far enough.

I think she puts it best in that article. The problem isn't helping people to own their own house, its that the stock of social housing isn't being replaced.

I do wonder what percentage of Linux users reject the survey compared to Windows users. Not that it's changed much, but every little helps right?

As totally justified as it seems to be in this case, I find the points raised by lawyers about this concerning. Ultimately this is a case of the legislature overruling the judiciary with none of the process that the latter would typically require to make sure it is done properly.

Of course, this is such a gross miscarriage of justice that letting the convictions stand probably did more to undermine faith in the system. But I really wish this could have been sorted out without this breach of separation of powers.

Missing some relevant info here:

1. The error was that the resolution foundation figure was an estimate for the tax year 2028-29
2. The two factors that cancel out in this coming year are the rise in personal tax, combined with the cut to national insurance.

Other than basic things like Tetris (Quadrapassel) and minesweeper, I've not yet found an open source game I've enjoyed nearly as much as the countless proprietary games I own and play.
