I've used Lineage on multiple devices, Calyx, and Graphene. Graphene by far has the least issues (basically none), and the best compatibility in my experiences. Being able to relock the boot loader is perfect for a mobile device too.

How does dark & light mode change on its own? The Bazzite reference I made was I believe I remembered the background changing depending on the time of day or maybe it had a button to switch the modes in the panel with easy access (can't quite remember). On Kinoite I have the screen set to red light automatically at a certain time but the theme doesn't change to dark with it. Is this a possible feature with Plasma?

Everything. Data breaches/leaks happen all the time. The more these companies have to admit what happened and be shamed and fined the more they will care about security for their customers.

To add to this I'd also pay attention to the Android version that the OS is based on. Last I checked e/OS is a few versions outdated. GrapheneOS works very very well, you (OP) just have to understand how to set it up for your use case.

It's a good point about the website and I've thought about that as well. I do want to go the app route however because I want instant offline access

"Best" is subjective. I like Signal because it has a great modern UI so I can pretty easily get non techy/privacy people using it.

I use it on my phone and my wife's. I would like to get a Pixel tab too with Graphene. There is no other phone OS like it and it's open source. I have had Lineage on an old phone and on a tablet currently and while it's nice, GrapheneOS just works amazingly. I've also briefly tried Calyx but it had various small issues that Graphene doesn't.

BleachBit is a must have and PhotoGIMP is pretty neat.

I've been using Mint for about two years and it games okay and also feels outdated. I built a gaming computer for a friend recently and put Bazzite on it and it runs games great and just works great as a whole

For movie streaming if you have subscriptions to the big names you can use Kodi and still login to your streaming service.

It's also unethical that they steal your data and keep upping prices and injecting ads so it's equally ethical to stream pirated content via Kodi

I'm not on my computer currently but I did try show-full-ui. I just remember it didn't work correctly either. Good to know it can work in a VM though.
