  • Oh boy here we go again

Distrochooser is not a good resource for newbies IMO. There are too many questions, many of which are misleading or hard to understand (NOBODY taking this knows what systemd is)

Many answers are misleasing: "I want a distro that is supported by game publishers" for example implies each distro has its own game compatibility, this is NOT the case.

And when you're finally done it recommends too many distros, many of which are irrelevant, niche, or flat out not recommended anymore (PCLinuxOS?!?!)

When someone asks for a distro, please just run a random number generator to choose between ZorinOS, PopOS, or Linux Mint. If someone is only gaming, maybe include Nobara too.

  • I've seen this browser pop up occasionally and I still don't understand a single thing about why it exists. The only thing I know is that they really, really, really, really love Apple. Their FAQ says:

In other words, Arc is to your ex-browser what the iPhone was to cellphones. Or as one of our members said “like moving from a PC to a Mac.” It’s from the future — and just feels great.

Yeah pffft, imagine using an Android phone in current year. We're like Apple so much that we also throw a bunch of buzzwords instead of explaining the product.

Also their #1 selling point is privacy and how they'll never sell your data but uh... Firefox exists... And it's open source, unlike this...

  • It's gotten a lot better lately but it's still not 100% there yet. Push notifications still aren't reliable, I often find myself getting a notification 10+ minutes after I get a message (sometimes more). It also uses too much mobile data because it seems to be updating too many things on startup.
